Michigan Association for Educational Data Systems (MAEDS) holds its annual fall conference in the northern part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Conference presentations offer professional growth, meanwhile networking opportunities with colleagues promise a vast resource of experience, support, and guidance. When is the conference?
The 2010 MAEDS Annual Fall Conference runs the afternoon of Wednesday, October 13th through lunch Friday, October 15th.
Where is the conference?
The conference will be held at the Summit Conference Center, which is attached to the newly renovated Lakeview Lodge (a.k.a. Lakeview Hotel), part of Summit Village at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire, Michigan. Traverse City lies about a 50 minute drive to the Southwest.

What are the conference fees?
The $190 Full Conference Registration fee includes:
· Annual MAEDS membership
· Conference session admittance
· All meals (Note: Wednesday lunch is not included)
· All evening activities
Full conference registrants may also register a guest or spouse for $110, which is a great way for them to be included without becoming a member or attending the conference sessions.
The conference registration fees can be paid by purchase order, check, or credit card. Just select the desired option when registering online.
Where to lodge?
Most people will want to stay at Lakeview Lodge, part of Summit Village at Shanty Creek Resort. Rooms start at $94, plus taxes and resort fees. Don’t wait to reserve your room. Shanty Creek Resort sets aside rooms for MAEDS Annual Fall Conference attendees until one month before the start of the conference. After that room availability could be limited.
Note: Lakeview Lodge is entirely smoke free.
Why lodge at Shanty Creek Resort’s Summit Village Lakeview Lodge?
Even conference attendees who reside near the conference often choose to lodge at the conference. That’s because they’ve learned the value of the professional networking opportunities offered through the evening activities; that people who lodge at the conference are more involved with those activities; and, that lodging at the conference helps reduce distractions enabling them to better focus on their professional development.
When to arrive and depart?
The MAEDS Annual Fall Conference runs the afternoon of Wednesday through lunch Friday. Although some people arrive Tuesday evening, most arrive Wednesday around Noon.
Lunch on Wednesday is not included in the conference registration fee. There is a restaurant in the hotel or a selection of restaurants in the town of Bellaire.
The MAEDS Annual Fall Conference ends Friday with a luncheon, which includes the annual member meeting and door prizes drawing. This usually concludes around 1:30p.m.
When can I check-in?
Hotel check-in is at 4:00p.m. Your room may be available earlier; however it is recommended that you verify availability before unloading any luggage.
Conference check-in is noon through 5:00p.m. in the hotel lobby. If arriving later please find any MAEDS Board Member and they will be able to assist you.
What is the attire?
Most attendees dress to be comfortable with a wide range from very casual to those who prefer professional attire. During evening activities most dress to be warm and comfortable. At the MAEDS Annual Fall Conference there is no recommended or expected standard of attire.
What can I expect for the evening activities?
Evening activities are designed to encourage and foster networking with colleagues to develop working relationships. The evening activities include banquet style dining, fun run/walk, hired entertainment, card tournament, glow golf, and more. Some of the activities are outdoors (weather permitting), so please dress appropriately.
